Part 5
“Leave me alone!” Vanessa slammed against one of the guards, she took a swipe with one of her claws. The guards were pushing her down the hall, she noticed that the hall was darker than the throne room. She growled and snapped at one of the guards but he smack her with his tail, she hit the wall. Vanessa shook off the pain, “I don’t want to stay here don’t you get that!” she shouted.
“It doesn’t matter what you want,” they came to two connecting halls, he shoved her to the right, “when Queen Aubrey give’s an order you do as she says.”
Vanessa didn’t give up easy, she was determine not to stay, “LET ME OUT!” she screamed.
The larger guard slammed into her, “Be silent were almost there.”
She stumble through a cage door, the guards came through closing the door behind them, “Flare we have another one for you.”
“Yess,” someone hissed, a bland orange dragon with a right broken horn, limped around the corner, “it’sss a gray dragon, not many of thossse around,” he had only one eye the other was gone nothing but an empty socket he didn’t even brother to wear a patched, “what do I get to do with this one.” there was a whip hanging around one of his wings, it was dripping with blood.
“No nothing harsh,” Flare looked disappointed, “Just put her in the iron cast.”
Flare brighten up, “Thisss way,”he lead the way the guards pushed Vanessa to follow him, she slowly followed him, she could hear someone groaning, they were walking past a cell Vanessa’s jaw dropped, it was Cassie she had slashes cut across her body she laid there in a bloody puddle, Eden was down by her head whispering something to her, “don’t mind her, ssshe’ss jussst learning a lesssson.” he hissed his laughter.
“How dare you, don’t you even care!?” Vanessa was out raged, she stopped following him.
“Keep moving,” one of the guards gave her a push but she didn’t budge, “I refuse to move another inch!”
Eden looked up from Cassie, he gave a long sigh, “Our queen gave us orders,” he marched out of Cassie's cell and slammed the door, “you will do as she say’s.” Eden was much larger than the guards they were even scare when he grabbed Vanessa by the tail and dragged her into the next cell.
“NO!” she screamed, “Let me go don’t do this, you’ve all been betrayed, your queen is evil.” Eden forced her body into the iron cast he lock it.
He step back, “If you wish to stay here you’ll learn our way’s quickly.”
“I don’t wish to stay in this hell hole,” Vanessa growled, her legs were pinned to her sides, she felt like a piece of string that was forcibly push through a bead that was way too small for it, “I want to return to my world.” she slashed her tail and shook her head trying to escape.
“Don’t wassste your energy, foolisssh dragon, there’sss no way out, the only way out isss fire and you can’t breathe it.” he was laughing so hard.
“Let’s leave her to think what she’s said and done.” Eden growled he love his queen and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her. He kept an eye on the village and made sure everyone follow her laws but if they didn’t he would wait till dark and secretly bring them to the palace for there punishment. They wanted the village to be happy and didn’t want them to think they would get into trouble, the queen would promise a worse punishment if they told anyone.
Eden close the door and they walked following each other down the hall, Flare smiled at her then left. Vanessa kept rolling about trying to find a way to break the lock, she heard someone coming back, “Here in case you get thirsty.” Flare slid a bowl in through the bars.
“I thought you didn’t care.” Vanessa looked questioning at him.
“I don’t queens orders.” he saunter off down the hall.
She rolled over to the bowl, leaning over she was about to take a drink, but there was a strange smell. It must be bewitched she thought I ain’t falling for another one of her tricks. If only I would of stood home that night and took care of my twin brothers, Vanessa felt so stupid to believe the woman at the door. My mother tells me I can’t go to my friends house for a party and that I have to take of my brothers. “Why!” she growled to herself. At the time that party was the most important thing in my life.
Her mother left the house leaving her in charge, she feed her brothers, then hours later sent them to bed. Vanessa’s mom worked the night shifted at the hospital, so it felt possible that this woman claiming to be from the hospital was true. Saying her mother sent her to watch the boys so she could go to the party, and like all children why ask questions when you get to go do what you want to do. She left and had a great time but when she return home her mother was home and that woman left them all alone. Her mother didn’t believe a word she said then she grounded her for a week, she couldn’t do anything and she was telling the truth. Then on her way to school she ran into a girl, she had blond hair and blue eye’s, a dark purple dress on. Vanessa started taking to her and she open up about her problem about her mother to this girl, she didn’t know why but she felt like she was someone she could trust. Then she suggested that they ditch school for the day and go get some chocolate milk shakes. It sounded like a great idea at the time, but when she drank it that’s when she felt tired and woke up inside the cage with the other dragons.
She was so lost in her thought’s that she almost didn’t see the wall opening, she looked over and a small blue scale less dragon crawled out. He looked over at Vanessa he nodded his head then crawled over to the bowl. “Don’t drink it it’s bewitch.” she warn him.
He nodded at her, “I know I just need to collect it that’s all,” he open a jar that was hanging around his neck, he pour the purple water into it then he close the jar, “that ought to do it.” he was heading back to hole.
“Wait, please.” He looked at Vanessa, “take me with you, please.” she was desperate.
“I can’t very well take you through that tiny hole, your larger than I am.” he look sad, “Look there’s no way to take you now but trust me there is hope here, even if you don’t see it at the time. Don’t give in, or let go, hang on because were coming,” then they heard someone coming, “I gotta go.” he rushed to his hole then place the stone back over it.
“Well I hope you like your accommodation’s.” it was Aubrey.
“Oh yeah, it’s just like the prison cell’s back home.” Vanessa said sarcastic.
“I didn’t want to do this to you, you chose this not me, couldn’t just except a name could you had to use your brains to find a way out didn’t you?” she narrowed her eye’s at Vanessa.
“I only did what you did to us, try and find a way to force you to let us go.” she growled.
“It doesn’t matter your never leaving here you’ll become a full dragon and except the name Arian…” she stopped talking as soon as she saw the empty bowl, “Did you drink it? No of course not you would have been more excepting, how did this bowl get empty?” she stared right into Vanessa eye’s.
Vanessa leg’s were starting to cramp up, “Well I,” she turn over in that thing, then she saw a drain behind her, “I pour it down the drain.” she was so proud that she thought of it.
“Prove it, carry this bowl over there act like your dumping it then bring it back.” Aubrey smiled thinking she might be catching her in a lie.
She was worried what if she couldn’t carry it then pour it, but she had to try to protect that dragon. Vanessa rolled over to the bowl, she pushed it as far as she could then rolled close to it then pushed it again and rolled close to it. She made it to the drain, she wrapped her mouth around the edge, and acted like she was pouring it down the drain. Then she return with it as Aubrey watched her closely.
“Fine you’ve proven you haven’t lie, but have wasted a very precious drink!” she shouted at Vanessa, “You shall have no food or water until you give in and will stay like this until I decided.” She walk off, she dragged her tail across the bars making a clanking sound.
“I’ll starve to death first!” she shouted out to her, but then am I strong enough to be hungry and thirsty, she sighed.
Then the wall began to move again, the same dragon popped back out, “Hey I heard everything thanks for not ratting me out.”
“Your welcome, so what did you mean when you said were coming?” she star at him.
“I can’t really tell you it’s best for you not to know in case she manages to get it out of you.” he said nervously.
“Hard to keep faith in something I don’t know about.” Vanessa growled.
“You will know about it, trust me others who know they will share, just because you can’t see doesn’t mean not to try to find knowledge about the hope in this land.”he went over to his way of escape, “I’ll try to bring you food and water, it’s the least I can do.” he jumped back into his hole then once again it looked like a plain wall.
Even though she was a little confuse she felt like she was going to make it back home, at least I’m not alone any more, she thought.
